Firefox shortcuts

Firefox shortcuts

As per my promise to give shortcut tips for Firefox in my previous post I am here with a list of shortcut keys and few useful tips that can enhance your Firefox experience.

As always I use these shortcuts to just save the time as gamers save the time to win the game with cheats. Here it’s not like cheat but it’s just a way to save the time. After these shortcuts your life would be very simple but I am not claming at all that these shortcuts will replace your mouse for browsing but I can assure you for this that these shortcuts will give you a different browsing experience that you have never before and your mouse use will reduce by 50 percent.

Firefox is itself a very big tool in itself so I am dividing it in few separate parts.

For starting firefox user windows+r then typefirefox and press enter. Firefox will get open.

Make a shortcut for shutdown logoff and restart

Many people have a question why they cannot get a shortcut for shutdown or restart or for logoff my question is who said you cannot get it. You can get it, and it’s as easy as making a shortcut of your folder or file from any location. Here is the method for shutdown, restarts and hibernate shortcuts. You can call these options from your run panel also.

1) Process for making shortcut.
a. Rite Click àNewàShortcut.

b. It will open a shortcut window
c. In its location name type the following commands for shutdown, restart or logoff and click on next. It will create a desktop shortcut and you can simply use these shortcuts to restart, logout or shutdown your pc.

2) Commands are
a. For shutdown: “shutdown -s –t 0 –f”.
b. For Restart: “shutdown –r –t 0 –f”
c. For logoff : “logoff”
Here
–s stand for shutdown
-r stand for restart
–t stand for the time
0 stands for 0 second you can change your seconds to shutdown default is 30 second
-f stand for forceful execution of the command if anything is running background it will close that without asking to you.

3) You can call these shortcuts from your run panel also so no need of click on desktop twice its procedure is very simple. Here is a detailed post for making any file, folder and program shortcut
a. Give a desired name to these shortcuts. (Make sure these name are not commands already there you can test those name by running on run panel.)
b. Copy these shortcuts in C:\Windows\System32.
c. Call these commands from run any time.

4) You can change these shortcuts icon also in very simple way.
a. Rite clik on shortcut and go to properties
b. Slect shortcut tab
c. Change icon and choose your desired icon.
d. It’s done

I would recommend you to test these shutdown icons only when you are not running anything serious so if you shutdown your computer in temptation of testing these shortcuts you will not lose any working data.

Start application from Run panel

It’s always good to open a program in Windows XP by just pressing ctrl+r à program command and enter, but it’s not applicable for all the programs like yahoo messenger or Google talk pr any program that you use. If it’s not their by default but we can make a shortcut easily to create shortcut of those applications. Here is process for creating a shortcut to start application from run command.

1) Make a short cut of application that you want to use from run.

2) For making shortcut either use create new shortcut wizard of windows or go to the exe location of that particular program. Suppose you want to use yahoo messenger than go to C:\Program Files\Yahoo!\Messenger rite click on YahooMessenger.exe and click on send to desktop option.

3) It will create a shortcut of yahoomessager.exe on your desktop. Rename it to your desired name. I gave name AP yahoo.

4) Now copy this shortcut and paste it into c:\windows\system32

5) Press windows and then type APyahoo and enter. It will start your yahoo messenger.

6) You can make shortcut for any program that you want even for your particular file by this method
